run by the Institute for Theatertherapie in collaboration with the IAF (Institute of Applied Research, Development and further Education) / Catholic University of Applied Sciences Freiburg
Dramatherapy is an action-oriented form of therapy developed mainly in United States and England in the last 40 years. It unites the healing function of theatre with the processes of psycho-social therapy. It can be applied with great success in all social and therapeutic areas and in coaching and management. The course that began in Freiburg in 2012 focuses on social and cultural organization and in particular provides methods for the promotion of innovation and change in companies, social institutions, social milieus and other areas.
Dramatherapy is one of the four forms of arts therapy (in addition to music, dance and art therapy). The action-oriented application of artistic means and processes allows a fruitful cooperation between the original healing function of theatre and the methods of modern psychotherapy.
